K-L-A-D viewer and Plastikolor reel

KLAD

right_menu
The KLAD viewer was manufactured in Kladne, Czechoslovakia by Okresni Kovopodnik Kladno, probably around the late 1950s or early 1960s. It is very similar to the Sawyers View-Master Model E in every aspect, although is much more crudely constructed, having a fairly rough bakelite finish.

These viewers are very difficult to find and often have suffered some damage as the bakelite appears quite fragile, chipping easily.

The reels for this viewer were produced by the same company under the name 'Plastikolor'. The example shown below was made from very thin aluminium sheet and finished with a hammered metal paint.
